I noticed that this HTML tutorial sticky is very deprecated when it comes to todays standards.

This includes (but is not limited to) not using end tags for elements, incorrect use of line breakers, lack of hyphens, using deprecated elements as left, font, bgcolor, right and so on.

Just some of my constructive feedback.

Its basic HTML. Its not ment to be all fancy. It is HTML that works, and its just to get people started. You are more than welcome to write your own.

If you think you can do better then you are more than welcome to. This is an introduction. And to be fair no one has put a doc type with it. There is nothing there that said it conforms to XHTML strict....

With all due respect, it is not basic HTML. It is very incorrect HTML.

Edit: Most of those 'errors' is not valid in XHTML Transitional or HTML 4.0 (which is the most commonly used).

The HTML there works perfectly fine, and I have built many sites with it. Like has been said multiple times, you are very welcome to make your own, and I'd be more than happy to have it replace mine if it was going to be a better guide.

That proves my point together with the rest I have said.

Thank you all for your suggestion. I might actually take you up on it.

You don't have to prove it isn't valid, no one has said it is. Don't think your the only one here who knows how to write a little HTML.

I never said you where wrong. I know basic html. That is basic html. Thats most of what I know, and put together right it can make a fine website. I really didn't even know there where different versions of html.

However, I refuse to acknowledge it being incorrect. If it is incorrect it wouldn't work. But your welcome to make a page on freewebs and try every singe thing I said there, and you'll find it all does what I said it would do.

The intention was not to prove that the HTML in that thread was not valid, put to prove my point. You will also see that if you re-read my posts.

I know more than "a little", but I will ignore your attitude for now.

Yes, it might work on occasion, but if you use non-valid HTML it will make your website less accesible and it may behave "strange" from time to time.

I didn't have an attitude. I just don't appreciate you calling it 'Very incorrect' (or wrong). Because its not. Because it works. If it was 'very incorrect', it would not work. It is HTML. It is Basic. And it works well enough for people to build basic pages. Now either make your own tutorial, or drop it. Because as it stands, I was the only one willing to put hours of my time into making one. So until someone else is, that one will be there for those who need it.

I was not refering to you. I posted directly after you. That particular paragraph was directed towards the poster above you.

Thank you for your constructive criticisms. I now nominate you to create a more updated BASIC HTML Tutorial which is compatible with the newest and most used versions of website coding languages. I would like you to link me to your topic when you have it finished.

I've never said that I am doing an updated version of it. The purpose of this thread was to (if I'm interpreting the forum title correctly) to give a constructive suggestion.

But, for the sake of argument, you are on.
